Clifton is a controlled school which welcomes pupils aged 3-19, providing education to approximately 200 pupils with Severe Learning Difficulties through Nursery, Primary, Secondary and Post 16 phases. Clifton School is Based in Bangor, Co. Down and we celebrated our 20th anniversary in 2024 of being based on our current site just off the Old Belfast Road.
Our experienced and enthusiastic staff put the pupils at the heart of all that they do. The needs of our pupils vary greatly so we work closely with parents and our partners in other agencies. There is an emphasis on a multi-sensory and multi-disciplinary approach to the curriculum and the individual learning programmes for each child which are very practical and focused preferred learning style.
Our school also has Physiotherapists, Speech and Language Therapists and Occupational Therapists on site to work with our pupils during the school day and to support the classroom teaching staff.
We also offer a wide range of extracurricular activities to our pupils. These are carefully chosen to meet the needs and interests of our pupils. They include activities such as horse-riding, Swimming, Makaton Choir, Football, Drama club and Art clubs
At Clifton, we pride ourselves in promoting a welcoming and nurturing ethos. The health, safety and well-being of all our pupils and staff is paramount. Each class team strives to develop close and caring relationships with the pupils and the achievements of our pupils and staff are celebrated at class, department and whole school level.
